About CHRONOGRAPHY

What is the dated daily note for?

Use it for whatever you want to think through that day — work decisions, meeting notes, study summaries, or ideas. Use the split guides to divide the page, or put drawings and text side by side. You don’t have to write the same way every day.

What is the difference between CY, FY, and AY?

The main difference is when the year begins. CY (Calendar Year) covers January–December, FY (Fiscal Year) April–March, and AY (Academic Year) September–August, each in one planner.

CY2027 and FY2027 share the same features and design. Periods that include a leap year have one more day of pages.

AY2026-2027 uses the previous specification, so its yearly page design and Guide tools differ (AY will share them from the next edition, AY2027-2028).

Which one should I choose?

Choose the one that starts when you want to begin. CY suits starting with the new year, FY suits the Japanese fiscal or school year, and AY suits a September-start school year or academic calendar.

See Lineup for the current editions, colors, and JPN / Global options.

Does it sync automatically with Google Calendar?

No. The links open Google Calendar for the matching period. Adding or changing events in Google Calendar is done separately.

Choosing & requirements

How are the three products different?

KotaLog Diary is a planner for casually keeping plans, photos, and daily notes. CHRONOGRAPHY is a planner for thinking on a dated daily note and turning it into your next action. IndexNote is a notebook for organizing knowledge and ideas so you can find them when you need them. Their uses overlap in places, so compare what you want to keep and the shape of the pages.

Is it an app? Will I receive a paper planner?

It’s a digital product file you import into a handwriting note app. It’s not an app itself, and no paper planner is shipped.

Which apps can I use?

This site mainly explains how to use it with Goodnotes on iPad. It also works in other note apps that handle PDFs, but support for in-page links, handwriting, importing images and materials, and search varies by app and device. Check the features you need and your environment before choosing.

The 2027 edition files are light: every type fits within the free version of Goodnotes (5 MB), as of October 16, 2026.

Can I choose JPN or Global in every season?

It depends on the season. CY comes in JPN and Global editions. FY is JPN only, and AY is Global only.

JPN shows Japanese public holidays and comes with a Japanese Guide page. Global is the worldwide edition with no country-specific holidays and an English Guide page. Page labels are in English in both. If you need Japanese holidays, choose the JPN edition of CY or FY.

Can I start in the middle of the period?

You can start whenever you like. The months before you start can simply stay blank. Choosing the season that begins closest to when you want to start lets you use the pages without waste.

Can I use it on iPad mini?

You can, but we don’t especially recommend it. iPad mini has a small, narrow screen, so text is small when a whole page is shown. It works fine if you zoom in and out.

If that feels like extra effort, the Daily Portrait layout of KotaLog Diary is a better fit. CHRONOGRAPHY is easiest to read and write on a standard-size iPad or larger.

Download & getting started

I can’t find the download instructions.

Check the instructions shown at purchase and the email address you used to order. They may have been sorted into your spam folder. If that doesn’t help, contact us through the contact form with your order number or other details that confirm your purchase.

How do I use the downloaded file?

Import the saved product file using your note app’s import function or the share menu. The Getting started chapter of the manual walks through it, and Tips also explains the steps in Goodnotes.

My screen looks different from the video.

Check that the product name, edition, and layout shown in the video match what you purchased. App or OS updates can also change the screens. Please check the product Guide and your app’s help as well.

I bought the wrong product. Can I ask about a return or exchange?

We’ll check your order, so please contact us through the contact form with your order number and the details. For purchase terms, see the Legal Notice.

Can you issue a receipt?

If you need a receipt addressed to a company or business name, we can issue one in a separate format. Request it through the contact form with your order number, the name to address it to, and a description. You can also keep the order confirmation email as a record of your purchase. For expense claims, check the requirements of where you submit them.

Data & troubleshooting

My note has become slow.

The cause depends on the app, the device, and what’s in the note. It helps to check whether it happens in one note or others too, and whether writing or moving between pages is slow. Keep your records safe, then check your app’s support information.

I deleted a page or note by mistake.

If your app has a trash or restore feature, check there. If not, see whether a backup that includes your writing remains. Restoring the original product file and restoring your own records are separate.

If I download it again, will my writing come back?

The original product file doesn’t include anything you added after you started using it. To restore your records, check your app’s restore feature or a backup that includes your writing. For re-download conditions, check the instructions shown at purchase.

If I sync, do I still need a backup?

Sync keeps your notes the same across devices. Deletions and changes can sync too, so keep a separate backup copy as well. See your app’s help for how to set it up.

What should I do when moving to a new device?

First back up the notes that contain your records on your old device. Then follow your app’s migration or sync steps, check your notes on the new device, and only then clean up the old one. Accounts and sync methods vary by app.
