FAQ
Choosing, getting started, links and data for KotaLog Diary.
About KotaLog Diary
How do I choose among the 4 layouts?
There are Daily layouts, with a page for each day, and Weekly layouts that show a whole week. Daily comes in portrait and landscape; Weekly comes with a horizontal or vertical timeline. Compare samples and the comparison table on the Lineup page.
Watch in video6:31How are KotaLog Diary’s Note pages different from IndexNote?
Note pages in KotaLog Diary are handy for keeping notes and thoughts alongside your plans. IndexNote suits organizing things by theme, separate from dates, and pulling them up again and again from its index.
Does it sync with Google Calendar automatically?
No. Links open Google Calendar for the matching date or period. Handwritten plans are not added automatically, and Google Calendar events are not added to the planner.
How to use them side by side, sync with Apple Calendar and get event notifications is covered in Use it with Google Calendar in Tips.
Watch in video12:49Can I use it with Apple Calendar?
KotaLog Diary can’t open Apple Calendar directly. Connect Google Calendar with Apple Calendar to sync your events: events added in Google Calendar appear in Apple Calendar, and vice versa.
For the steps, see Use it with Google Calendar in Tips.
Watch in video25:42Choosing & requirements
How do the three products differ?
KotaLog Diary is a planner for easily keeping plans, photos and daily notes. CHRONOGRAPHY is a planner with a dated note for every day, for thinking things through and turning them into next steps. IndexNote is a notebook for organizing knowledge and ideas so you can pull them up when you need them. Their uses overlap, so compare what you want to keep and the shape of the pages.
Is it an app? Will I receive a paper planner?
It’s a digital product file that you import into a handwriting note app. It is not an app itself, and no paper planner is shipped.
Can I use images to introduce or share it?
Sharing on social media and reviews are very welcome. To introduce KotaLog Diary, you may freely use the introduction video and the photos on this site. Please don’t modify or redistribute the product files, as they are protected by copyright.
Watch in video28:32Which apps can I use?
It works in handwriting note apps that can open PDFs and follow hyperlinks. iPad with Goodnotes is especially recommended, but you can use other apps too. Support for in-page links, handwriting, importing images and materials, and search varies by app and device.
The Manual covers how to use KotaLog Diary in any app, and Tips covers app-specific steps.
Watch in video9:07Can I use it on iPad mini?
Yes. On iPad mini, the portrait Daily Portrait layout is recommended — it makes good use of the screen even when you type with the on-screen keyboard.
On a small screen, text size and ease of writing feel different. Compare the samples on the Lineup page on your own device.
Watch in video6:46Can I use it on iPhone?
As a PDF, it opens in note apps on iPhone too. With cloud sync, you can check on iPhone what you wrote on iPad (sync is a feature of your app). The Guide page tools let you make stickers one-handed without a pen, so they’re easy to use on iPhone.
Watch in video15:53Can’t decide on a color?
Classic Navy is the most popular. In the 2026 download ranking by color, Navy was followed by Sky and Stone. If you often write in dark places, Steel pairs well with dark mode. Using different colors for different purposes or years works well too.
Compare all 12 colors on the Lineup page.

I can’t find the download information.
When your purchase is complete, a download link is sent to the email address you used for the order. It may have been sorted into a spam or other folder. Use the same link to download again.
If that doesn’t help, contact us through the contact form with your order number or other details that confirm your purchase.
Watch in video24:24How do I use the downloaded file?
Import the saved product file using your note app’s import feature or the share menu. For details, see “Getting started” in this product’s Manual.
For Goodnotes, see Get started with KotaLog Diary in Goodnotes in Tips.
Watch in video24:33My screen looks different from the video.
Check the product name, edition and layout shown in the video against your purchase. App and OS updates can also change the screens. Please also check the product’s Guide and your app’s help.
I bought the wrong product. Can I ask about a return or exchange?
We’ll check your order, so please contact us through the contact form with your order number and the situation. For purchase terms, see the legal notice.
Can you issue a receipt?
If you need a receipt addressed to a company or business name, we can issue one in a separate format. Request it through the contact form with your order number, the name to address it to, and a description. You can also keep the order confirmation email as a record of your purchase. Please check what your expense process requires.
Links & materials
Links on the page don’t respond.
Check how links are opened in your note app — it may differ between writing and viewing. If the PDF was imported as images, its links won’t work, so also check how it was imported.
A confirmation appears when I open an external link.
When opening something outside the notebook, such as the Guide or a calendar, your app or OS may ask for confirmation. Check where the link goes and open it. Keeping it open in a side-by-side view reduces how often you need to tap the link again.
Where are the stickers and Guide?
Check your product’s Guide. Materials, formats and how to import them vary by product and edition, so the same buttons as in another product’s video may not be there.
Watch in video10:56I want to move stickers and text together.
Check that both images and text are selectable with your app’s selection tool. To move only the text, change the settings to suit, for example by excluding images from selection.
Where is the data for stickers made with the tools stored?
The history of stickers you make with the Guide page tools is stored only in your browser. It is never sent to or stored on a server. Clearing your browser data may also clear the history.
Watch in video14:49Data & troubleshooting
My notebook has become slow.
The cause depends on your app, device and the notebook’s content. Check whether it happens in one notebook or others too, and whether writing or moving between pages is slow. Then, after backing up your records, check your app’s support information.
I deleted a page or notebook by mistake.
If your app has a trash or restore feature, check there. If not, check whether you have a backup that includes your writing. Restoring the original product file and restoring your own records are separate things.
Will downloading again bring back my writing?
The original product file doesn’t include anything you’ve added since you started using it. To recover your records, check your app’s restore feature or a backup that includes your writing. For re-download conditions, see your purchase information.
If I sync, do I still need backups?
Sync keeps your notebooks the same across devices. Deletions and changes may sync too, so keep separate backups as well. See your app’s help for how to set it up.
What should I do when moving to a new device?
First, back up the notebooks with your records on the old device. Then follow your app’s migration or sync steps, check the notebooks on the new device, and only then clean up the old one. Accounts and sync methods vary by app.
